Spirits in October - Capturing the Spirit of Riverside Cemetery and historic Macon! Actors and tour guides are needed to bring to life the stories of persons interred in the cemetery. You can also help by welcoming visitors, serving refreshments, taking photographs, researching interpretive materials.

Volunteer Tour Guide Training(being developed) - participate in training program and lead public tours. We plan to develop tours on pioneers of Macon, mayors and politicians, college presidents, influential women, symbolism of funerary art, fraternal organizations, and cultural diversity.

Pathways to History - Riverside Cemetery is an underground museum with nearly 18,000 stories to tell! Each story is a snapshot of the historical era in which that individual lived, worked and loved. We have developed a curriculum for schoolchildren to use the cemetery as a living laboratory. Volunteers are needed to guide students and teachers through the cemetery, to portray individuals, to prepare period foods, to help instruct students using history, art and drama activities.

Ocmulgee Heritage Trail – Macon’s beloved river walk will be routed through Riverside Cemetery and across Vineville Branch Creek and on towards Amerson Water Works Park. We plan to develop public programs for nature study aand family activities centered around the trail and the creek.

Veterans Day Ceremony - Help with our annual honoring of veterans interred in Riverside Cemetery. Place flags on graves, welcome visitors, take photographs.

Plant Collections - We need help to complete a survey of trees, catalog plantings, help maintain database records. We plan to develop a program to identify plants and install plant labels.

Membership and Development Office - assist with light office work, (including data entry) and mailings preparation; help with setup and registration for donor and membership events and serve as a host/hostess.
