Commemorate Veterans Day at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2011.  Come to the main entrance at 1301 Riverside Drive and follow the "Event" signs.

The names of veterans interred at Riverside Cemetery since November 11 of 2010 will be read aloud during the ceremony.Military honors will be conducted by the 48^th IBCT (Infantry Brigade Combat Team).

The speakers on this occasion will be Jennifer O’Kelley and her father, Tom Stevens. Ms. O’Kelley will give a fascinating account of her ancestors who lost their four sons in the Civil War.   Mr. Stevens, a Vietnam veteran, will share stories of middle Georgia military who lost their lives during the Vietnam War. Through a column published by Ed Grisamore in the Macon Telegraph in 1992, Mr. Stevens obtained stories and mementos from families of 89 men in a seven county area and displayed these when the Moving Wall Memorial came to Macon.

The public is invited to this event. Visitors should enter the cemetery at the corner of Madison Street and Riverside Drive and will be directed to park near the site of our proposed Veterans Memorial Plaza.
