Spirits in OctoberThe Conservancy's second annual Spirits in October event was an incredible success! Nearly 250 visitors attended the event, which spanned two weekends. Thank you to all who participated - docents, actors, actresses, volunteers, and attendees! The event was sponsored by the Conservancy, Historic Macon, and the Cox Capitol Theatre. A special thanks to the Spirits in October sponsors: Michael Heard at Merrill Lynch, BB&T, Beds and Bedding, HHB Advertising, Pollock Signs, and iMedia Group.

Goodbye Too Soon, a Parent Support Group, hosted a memorial service at a family's lot in Riverside Cemetery. Goodbye Too Soon is a program for parents experiencing fetal or infant loss; it is a service of the Medical Center of Central Georgia. The program offers guidance from trained healthcare professionals, personalized remembrances, and informative educational materials to assist each person with their own healing process. Click here for more information.

The Middle Georgia Art Association also utilized the green space at Riverside Cemetery to conduct an art class. The beautiful weather, pristine landscaping, and tangible connection with the past made Riverside a perfect area for the students. Click here for more information.

Phi Mu Sorority members also made their way to Riverside Cemetery to pay homage to Martha Bibb Hardaway Redding. Redding was the co-founder of the Phi Mu Sorority at Wesleyan College in 1852. Sorority members from across the nation come to see her distinctive white cloverleaf headstone and to remember her influence on the Greek community. Click here to view her headstone and read her obituary.
