UDC Dedicates Markers

Georgia Infantries performed rites with a cannon. United Daughters of the Confederacy, Thomas Hardeman, Jr. Chapter, dedicated grave markers to several veterans on Saturday, March 6, 2010. Chapter members wore period costumes and uniformed reenactors from the 10th, 16th, and 53rd Georgia Infantries performed ceremonial rites, including firing a cannon. Ms. Eileen Watkins presided.

United Daughters of the Confederacy, Sidney Lanier Chapter, dedicated a marker to Delma Findlay Watson on Friday, May 21, 2010. Ms. Watson's daughter Dana Lee Hall spoke at the dedication. Ms. Hall is shown here with her husband, Timothy Hall, and daughter, Lauren Findlay Hall. Ms. Shelby Cramer presided.

scadfilmScenes from Isn't it Love?, written and directed by Brandon Cogle, produced by Caroline Aylward, were filmed in Riverside Cemetery. Actors and crew are all students at Savannah College of Art and Design.

Full Moon Euphoria!

fullmoon4-28Thirty novice, amateur and professional photographers teamed up to compose unique and evocative photos by moonlight at historic Riverside Cemetery! They experimented with long and multiple exposures; they painted with light using flashlights, lasers, glow sticks and sparklers to illuminate subject matter and to create awesome special effects.

Professional photographers Maryann Bates, Michael Williams and William Haun volunteered their time and talent to plan the event and to instruct and coach participants.The mood was euphoric and moonstruck photographers vowed to meet again next year.

Ants Marching in Riverside Cemetery

redantsThe Red Ants Marching production company filmed scenes in Riverside Cemetery on April 24th.  Conservancy Director Suzanne Doonan was pressed into service (it's a hard job but...) as a funeral director. Cuffed, written and directed by Anthony Harris, will be released in September.
